Keep in mind that there are several feasible day-trips on Zanzibar, the absolute majority of which are almost easily attained from Stone Town. Our squad on the ground may perhaps help you to prepare these.

The commonest are maybe the classic spice up Tours. Spices are inherent to Zanzibari life giving cuisine, remedies, dyestuffs as well as income. One among the famous local tours is a ‘spice tour’, which consumes some hours and costs almost about US$20 each. On such a trip you will be manoeuvered around a plantation to pluck leaves, pods in addition to twigs, furthermore discover how many of our familiar spices grow, not to mention cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, nutmeg, ginger and turmeric.

There are as well alternatives for visits to the giant tortoises of Prison Island, along with the endemic red colobus monkeys of Jozani Forest.

On the other hand, if you need an original in addition to an absolutely authentic experience, then ask us as regards to a day-trip to Ufufuma Forest. We’re assisting a small community with a forest conservation project, as well as to get learning about tourism for the first time. No two trips here are the same, although you may perhaps spot a few wild Kirk’s colobus monkeys, and maybe discuss with a local ‘witchdoctor’. These aren’t arranged: you’ll be handled as an individual, and because they are so new, they’re both appealing and irregular.

The eye of Zanzibar Town, Stone Town, was built during the 19th century and continues mostly unaltered. Labyrinths of narrow alleyways lead to castles, mosques as well as old Arab houses; small shops trade dotted tinga-tinga paintings, Zanzibari clocks along with heavily adorned chests. The too soon-morning market on brook toll road is tremendous, as determined Zanzibaris bargain over aromatic spices, exotic fruit in addition to big fish.

Stone Town is a simple place to look at on foot; you by no means need to go by vehicle. We discover that a two-night stay here is excellent, furthermore if this is your final stop in Africa, then an early-morning flight from Zanzibar to Dar will link with ahead of time flights back to the UK.

Make an observation that Stone Town could be noisy and there is nowhere to stay where we may perhaps warrant peace; hand around in calls to prayer from the mosques, along side the hustle and bustle of town, are part of daily life here. It’s an active, vibrant atmosphere, although don’t anticipate peace and quiet.

For a good-value hotel of affordable delicacy with local flavour, begin by considering sister-hotels: the Tembo Hotel in addition to Dhow Palace Hotel; both give excellent standards along with value for money.

For slightly extra style, and as well bags of authenticity, many old merchant’s houses have been powerfully restored. 236 Hurumzi, formerly the Emerson along with Green, has extensive been extremely famous (particularly with honeymooners), while Beyt al Chai is a small although bright rising star.

For a a little larger small hotel, with a more cosmopolitan blend of guests, locals as well as the odd expat in the bar, try the Africa House Hotel. Whereas at the top of the scale is the Zanzibar Serena Inn – which further has one among the few actual sea-views in the town.

Whenever you prefer to stay outside town, and maybe just travel in for a day, then Mbweni Ruins Hotel is a continual favourite – a good small hotel in extended gardens beside a beach.

SAFARI BLUE
“N othing short of AWESOME – a “must do” in Zanzibar ” Gavin S Africa

Safari Blue has been running great days out in Zanzibar since 1996. Safari Blue starts from Fumba village, south west of Stone Town. Fumba is the most convenient location for exploring the wildlife, isolated sandbanks and rugged island scenery of the Menai Bay Conservation Area

Safari Blue is a full day boat trip in traditional hand built sailing dhows finished to the very highest standards of comfort and safety. The day includes dolphin watching, guided snorkeling with top quality Cressi-sub equipment, ice cold sodas, mineral water and beer. Lunch is served at our desert island restaurant and includes a delicious Zanzibari seafood lunch with grilled fish and slipper lobster, gastronomic fruit tasting, coffee and Amarula liqueur. Take a swim through the mangrove lagoon forest, a sail in an ngalawa, climb an ancient baobab tree and then finish the day off by returning to Fumba by traditional sail.

DOLPHIN TOUR

This is Full Day Tour, the main Attraction being able to swim close to the dolphin, actually its swimming with the Dolphin. Being very social themselves, if you are luck you even get to play with them. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which are sighted following a short boat trip from the village.

Kizimkazi is also the site of a 12th century mosque, the earliest evidence of Islam in East Africa, and is thus worth a visit for both natural and cultural reasons. The trip includes transport from either Stone Town or Hotel in the East or North Coast, guide, boat, snorkeling equipment and lunch.

JOZANI FOREST
This guided tour of three hours will take you to Jozani natural forest (it is only a natural forest in Zanzibar); where is home for rare red colobus monkeys which are species rare in the World. The smaller trees and shrubs make several sub canopies under the highest canopy. You will walk through the nature trail of the forest, which is a habitat for many species of animals.

MANGAPWANI TOUR

Slave Chambers: Built around 1880 from the cave and connected to the seaside 2kms away, the area is surrounded by varieties of indigenous trees such as Breadfruit, Ramboutants and scent shrubs. It was an important transit point for the captured slaves to be sold to the outside world at the time of the abolishment of slavery in 1873. Between 1880-1905, the chamber was being used as a place of concealment of the human cargo pending their disposal. A utilized as the hideout by the Arabs for their human cargo ready for shipment. The four hour guided tour begins and ends at your hotel. Mangapwani (“Arab Shore”) lies in a district where many Arabs used to live. In the village there is a Police Station, also a large government “Bungalow” which was built by the Arabs who originally owned Prison Island. Newly opened Serena Restaurant is nearby the Slave Caves. Swimming, Sun bathing may be done widely.

SPICE TOUR ZANZIBAR
Tropical fruits, spices and other rare species of plants are among the different vegetation to be seen in this guided tour. It is not only a tour but a rare experience to prove out why Zanzibar is referred to as the “Spice Island”. This Three hours guided tour begins and end up at your hotel via Kidichi Village, to view the Persian Baths built in 1850 by Seyyid Said bin Sultan (first Sultan of Zanzibar) for his wife Princess Shehrzard (grand daughter of Fateh Ali Shah of Persia).
